The Rochester Rally is a scrimmage of that year's new game, organized and hosted by Team 1511 Rolling Thunder. It allows all teams in upstate New York to not only test out their new 'bot, but to test out their drive team, strategy, and to meet and make friends with other local teams in the process. Rolling Thunder also gives teams the bonus of free shipment of their robots after the competition straight to the Finger Lakes Regional making it not only fun, but a money saver, and one less thing to worry about. The Rally is usually held the day before Ship Day.
Located every year in the Monroe County Fair and Expo Center, this is the first year team 1511 has had a full field with which to demonstrate. Robots from all the different years of competition move about the field from the most recent game – Breakaway. Mock matches are played with robots from other local teams that attend as well. Spectators are welcome to interact with the robot and see it up close, as team members answer any and all questions. Information about the Monroe County Fair is located at www.mcfair.com. See you there next year!

Possibly one of the most looked forward to off-season events in the Rochester, New York area is the Rah Cha Cha Ruckus. Penfield team 1511 Rolling Thunder helps each year to organize, sponsor and run this fun Halloween themed comptition and this year is no different. The competition itself is very unique because it not only allows for teams to play the previous years game one last time before packing their robot up before Kick Off, but it also allows for local teams to meet one another, discuss last years game, take part in a variety of fun activities such as human player only matches, coach matches, and a fun Halloween themed dance after the competition. It also provides a great enviornment for local teams in the upstate New York area to make great bonds that will last them a lifetime and provide valuable connections for Build Season. The Rookie Meet and Greet was founded in 1511's Rookie year. They decided to compile a booklet of all of the accomplishments of the rookie teams attending championships, and as they did, the realized what amazing teams would be in attendance. They decided they wanted to meet these teams and kicked off the first annual Championship Rookie Meet and Greet. Ever since, 1511 has hosted this event on the lawn between the Georgia Dome and the World Conference Center on Thursday or Friday of the Championship! Each year there are games and prizes, and 1511 hands out packets to the rookie teams that include information on Atlanta and how to start FLL teams.
