I started this blog idea on the afternoon of July 21st. What follows are all of my activities for July!
Monday 7/21 Evening – checked forums, posted in leadership ideas for Tuesdays team meeting, update for the RMSC demo, Figured out how to “subscribe” to threads, details for Harris Year End event.
Tuesday 7/22 Morning – read through crystals team email, made updates and sent out. Requested status on email distribution lists from val/lee/eric, requested status on who is leading the controller application, looked up engineering like competitions for ideas for assignment Becca & I had & posted it on the forums, responded to ruckus field team on shipping info, posted fundraising opportunity from Ron Borden on the forums, sent reminder to mentors with flag to follow up on their roles, asked Mike for what he needed from tonight for the FLL camp since he cant make it, sent response to Theo & Josh to track. Asked Krista Denecke to post a new info session flyer in next week’s eTimes, corresponded with her about creating a video for the eTimes from the mentor presentation.
Tuesday 7/22 Evening – 6-8pm team meeting, kids divided up into presidents circle & robot repairs. I discussed the new control system application with Larry, and then reviewed the mentor structure with Lorien. Called Eric A to help transport the field for the year end demo. I then discussed with Lee trying to get a mentor for the student leadership group. Then I joined up with the presidents circle group and helped review a few ideas. Signed up to do a WoW recruiting commercial. Participated in the team control application discussion. Discussed more control stuff over dinner with Jeff & Eric. At home, set up forum for the Control System Application and posted the criteria. Read and posted in the new control system Chief Delphi Thread, and linked it on our forums.
Wednesday 7/23 – Set up a board for the Presidents Circle & moved brainstorming thread there. Checked Chief Delphi. Took a few emails and a phone call on people interested in helping the robotics team. Responded to Dante’s ideas for the Ruckus. Updated the mentor structure to post on Chief Delphi, nominated Larry for Mentors Forum. Called the school to see if we could get in Thursday morning to pick up the field parts for the Harris Year End Demo. Talked to Karen about the new controller, ruckus shipping and how to get a new rep for the planning committee. Called IS & an admin to get a projector and mice set up for Larry. Created presidents circle video categories on the forum. Created email on updates on controller, presidents circle, demos & camp for this week & sent to the team. Printed out trifolds & posters for the year end event. Sent an email to Security about who will be coming to the year end event. Wrote up a ruckus email to send out for next week.
Thursday 7/24 – Met team at High School, helped load additional robot, team gear and overpass into vehicles. Organized transporting students over to TSE. Helped unload & setup demo, participated in demo for the entire day. Brought over breakfast food for everyone. Encouraged students to go out and talk to people (don’t just hang at the table!!), gave them fliers & trifolds to hand out. Hung up signs around TSE. Made sure students went to eat. Got medical when Rika got hurt. Picked up Harris gifts for everyone. Helped with packing & loading of all the vehicles. Drove students back to the school & helped unload. Went to Starbucks with leadership students, met for 1.5 hours, reviewing roles and upcoming meeting plans. Tried to let students lead and just input ideas when helpful. Drove Rika home.
Friday 7/25 – Checked email, no students to pick up at high school. Called Larry about student transport, they seemed to be all set. Met everyone at the RMSC for the demo. Helped setup. Took a few pictures with others cameras. Answered a few questions, helped pack up.
NEW WEEK
Monday 7/28 Morning – Responded to several emails regarding field for Ruckus. Sent email to new forum subscriber. Sent an email about the Presidents Circle Videos to leaders. Posted a list of questions for control system application. Sent an email about New Control System Board to those that signed up. Sent a few notes to Josh on Leadership meeting this week and front page announcement for website. Posted Leadership notes from last week on forums. Responded to Karens email about a committee request to know how Harris team spends money. Responded to an email from Steve Muchard on the Penfield Community Fest Demo. Worked on application answers.
Monday 7/28 Afternoon – Scanned Chief Delphi for control system info, interesting items. Posted a “what to teams want to know about the control system” thread. Emailed my Beta Test ideas to Larry/Jeff/Dave. Emailed Larry last week’s Blogs. Sent out an email to the parent sponsors and leadership team about the Sponsor Team Picnic Idea. Modified a few things & sent out Crystals Team Email. Sent an email to FIRST per Jenny Beatty’s request on our mentor structure (she saw in CD MF).
